What I did in August...

So, I have really been absent. So absent that I feel like I have forgotten to write a post! Brad and I are in between wireless internet companies, so I have literally been with internet for the past month. I am posting tonight from a local bookstore/coffee shop! I feel like I am in college again! Anyways, August has been an extremely busy month for the Warnock family - here is what we have been up to....

and lastly, I joined the Uppercase Living team! I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to it, but I have BIG plans for my new small business! I joined under fellow blogger and friend, Jill, and she has been AMAZING to work with! I hope I don't fail you, Jill! Uppercase Living has a lot of fabulous products, and I promise I will dedicate a WHOLE post to my new adventure!

Saturday.

Just wanted to let y'all in on the craziness that will be my Saturday....
10 a.m. - Shower and Brunch for bride-to-be, Lindsay
11:30 a.m. - Bridesmaids Luncheon for Myranda (wedding is NEXT weekend)
4:30 p.m. - wedding for sorority little sister, Rachel (I get to be a program attendant!)
7:30 p.m. - BACHELORETTE BASH for Myranda

I am seriously going to crash after that!

My life for the past two weeks...

I have decided to take my blog off of private - I am going to try it out for a while, and if it goes well, I'll keep it open. I want to be able to connect with other bloggers, and I feel like while I'm private, that is not exactly an option!


Anyways, back to the reasoning behind my post - updating y'all on my life for the past two weeks! Most of my days have been occupied with working at the shop, which has been A-MAZING! For those of you who have been wondering, I was offered a position at a middle school, but I have decided not to take the position for many reasons. Although I would love to work in the school system, I'm not completely ready to take that step. Taking the job would mean a huge life change for Brad and myself - new job, new degree, etc. etc. etc. So, for the time being, I will continue to work at the shop, which is right up my alley. We are preparing to launch a new website, have a Christmas in July event, and make a lot of new changes! I love working with small businesses, and I am enjoying working a job that has pretty much ZERO stress!


Besides work, my nights and weekends have been full of parties, showers and weddings! Summer is definitely the time for weddings, and it hasn't been any different for me!


One of the first weddings that Brad and I attended was for Jennifer and Matthew. Jennifer and I are sorority sisters and good friends! I loved seeing so many of my sisters, and we had a great time! The reception had a very tropical feel, so of course, the flowers were GORGEOUS! Best wishes to Jennifer and Matthew!

Keeping up with the bridal/wedding theme, I threw a luncheon for my very dear friend and sorority sister, Myranda. I am in her wedding in July, so I wanted to be sure that everything was perfect for her. Here are a few pictures from our Southern luncheon -

This past Friday, we had an ice cream supper at my grandparents' church. Momma and I did a few flower arrangements for the evening - here are a few pictures...

On Saturday night, Brad and I had TWO parties to attend. Our first stop was a shrimp boil for Myranda and John - here is the happy couple opening gifts -

So, that's everything in a nutshell! God has been working wonders in my life, and I seriously don't think that I have been this happy and stress-free in quite some time. I am going to work very hard to keep my blog updated for those of you who are faithful readers, and I am going to try and get caught up on everyone's lives!

YES, I am alive!

Okay, it has been WAY too long since I have updated my blog, but I wanted to let y'all know that I am okay! In fact, I am FABULOUS!

What is it about summer that makes you want to spend every waking moment outside? Well, that's what I have been doing for the most part. Add in work, bridal showers, weddings, family time, and hanging out with friends, and you have NO time for blogging!

I have a busy morning today, but I am going to try and give you a play-by-play of the past two weeks!

FINALLY! I finally downloaded pictures from the past 3 weeks onto my laptop! Here is what I have been up to...

working on restoring this old cabinet from my great great grandparents' home - I had to trace the design on the cabinet doors - it's a long project, but it will be SO adorable when I finish!

helping my mom do flower arrangements for a friend's party - this is one of my favorites - everything came from a yard: daisy wildflowers, oak leaf hydrangeas, and purple verbena!

I have been really busy for the past couple of weeks, and I am getting to do a lot of things I have been putting off for a while. I am going back to work tomorrow morning at the shop, and I couldn't be more excited! Then tomorrow night, I have my floral arranging class, and we're making WREATHS!!!!

I'm never EVER ever having a yard sale again...

You want to know why? Because it is just too stinkin' exhausting! Plus I hate haggling with someone over a quarter??? Anyways, this was the strangest yard sale I have ever had - Brad and I had several nice pieces, but it seemed like everyone was just interested in the junk. We made $65 on a bunch of JUNK. Ha!

I went to my grandparents' house the other day to do a few things, and while I was there, my granny gave me this book...

It is over 250 pages, and I seriously read it in around 3 hours. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. It's an amazing story of faith, hope, love, death, joy, happiness - it's just an amazing story. For more information on the book's subject, click HERE.

As far as my interview goes, it went really well, and I am just waiting to hear back from HR after they check my resources and whatnot! I'm pretty excited about the possibility of a new career, and I am completely trusting God to lead me down the right path. In the meantime, I am going to be working a few days a week at the shop, and I am super excited! It's the busiest time of the year for us (bridal season), and I am pumped!

The weekend.

It was a busy weekend for the Warnocks - here is a recap of what we did....

Friday night, we went to Golden Eagle, a Mongolian stirfry restaurant, with Ben and Emily. If you live near Murfreesboro, you need to check this place out! You get a bowl, fill it up with anything you could want (chicken, seafood, veggies), pick rice or noodles, and you have the best dinner! Ben and Emily are getting married in July, and I hope we will get to hang out more often!

Here is Ben with his fortune cookie fortune - it said "you will do very well in the computer field" - which is crazy because Ben works in the IT department at a local bank! Ha!

On Saturday, I worked all day at a fundraiser we had a Barnes & Noble. It was a long day, but at least I got to spend it at a bookstore! My cousins, Tessa and Tye, stopped by as well.

Here I am with the crazy kiddos - can you tell Tessa has been dressing herself? She had on white leggings, a green and pink top and leopard print boots! Ha!

My mom and I made a trip to a local nursery on Saturday morning so I could make this pretty arrangement for a shower I was hosting on Sunday. I love this arrangement so much, all I have to do is put it in a pot, and I can enjoy it all summer long!

We also made close to 50 cupcakes for the shower - we made lemon, strawberry and chocolate. I am offically obsessed with lemon cupcakes.

We played a fun game with Rachel, the bride. We asked her 15 questions about her groom and for every question she got wrong, she had to put a marshmallow in her mouth. At this point, I think she had 3 or 4 in there! Ha!

Rachel is my ADPi little diamond sister, and I am so happy for her! Here I am with Rachel and Melissa, another ADPi who helped host. We were supposed to have the shower in our chapter room, but the school is kicking all of the sororities out of their chapter rooms, so we had to have it in a lecture hall! Hey, sometimes you have to improvise!

The invitations were red and yellow, so we tried to make all the decorations match. Of course, all the ADPi girls were commenting that we were using Chi-O's colors! Ha, I do love those Chi-Os!

I'm exhausted this morning - and I'm FREEZING!!!!

Fashion Shows and "Horton Hears a Who."

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the "Legacy in Black and White" Fashion Show by Elrod & Co. (a boutique here in Murfreesboro). My sister works at Elrod's, and she is a Fashion Merchandising major, so she put together a lot of the outfits and wrote all the commentary for the show. I was so proud of her - this was her first show, and I think she did a FABULOUS job! My sister has always loved fashion, and I love to call her up and ask her advice about clothing. She always knows what is "in" and will tell me if I'm wearing something that's not "in" anymore!

Seeing all the bright and springy outfits definitely gave me SPRING FEVER, and I've been browsing all of the clothing websites looking at spring collections!

I can't wait to pull out all of my spring outfits and brighten up my wardrobe! Are y'all feeling the way I am????

I would especially love to be wearing this dress right now...

Heck, I would love to be wearing something other than BLACK or BROWN!

In other news, I'm taking my little sister, Kayla, to see this movie tonight, and I CANNOT wait!

For those of you who don't know, I have been an official BIG SISTER to Kayla for over 6 months now. She's 16, and we are seriously the best of friends! We didn't get to hang out last week, so I'm excited to see her tonight!

Well, I have been running around ALL weekend and TODAY like a chicken with my head cut off getting ready for something very exciting...I'm leaving to go to JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA tomorrow!


That's right, folks - I'll be in sunny Florida until Friday! I'm going to learn about a new advertising campaign that United Way of America is unveiling. It's called 'Live United' and I cannot wait to soak in all the marketing goodness!


I was going to have to go on this trip alone since Brad didn't want to use four days of his vacation, but my granny decided that she was going to tag along with me! I love my granny so much, and I can't wait to spend a few days with her!


I'll be pretty busy in workshops every day, so I don't know how much I'll get to update, but I'll be thinking of y'all while I'm in the Sunshine State!

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus lane!!!!

Tonight is the much-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus on the downtown square, as well as the lighting of the Christmas tree! I have been working on the Main Street Revitilization committee to plan the event - I was supposed to help with the horse-drawn carriage carrying Santa, but since I am on strict orders NOT to go outside, I will instead be working in The Write Impression! Come in and see me!

After the downtown event, I'll be driving to meet my grandmother who so graciously made her famous meatballs for me for my MERRY OPEN HOUSE which is happening tomorrow! Then, Brad and I will work on our adorable favors (can't wait to post pictures!) and making sure the house is SPIC AND SPAN! We have a lot of guests coming tomorrow, and I want to make sure everything is PERFECT!

After our Merry Open House, we'll be going to the Oaklands Historic Mansion Tour of Homes - I can't wait! I always want to go to this, but something always comes up! Hopefully, Sunday will be an easy day as I'm helping my mom decorate a house for Christmas!

I'm so excited about seeing all of my family and friends and letting them enjoy our new home! It's such a blessing to live so close to most of my family! Have a wonderful weekend, y'all!
