Tybee Island.

My grandmother, my momma, my sister and I are taking a trip this summer to Tybee Island, Georgia. I have never been to Tybee Island, but we all want to go to the beach, but still be close to Savannah (where my granny is DYING to go). I have been appointed as the "trip planner," and I have been doing all sorts of research - have any of you ever been to Tybee? Do you recommend a certain place to stay? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Blessings!

  1. Hey Lee Lee! You absolutely need to e-mail Meagan Stiner about this. We took our girlz trip to Savannah last year, visited Tybee, and she has been quite a few times. It is so much fun! OH...I am so happy for you!

  2. I have been there. Its such a sweet little place. I stayed with friends who live there though, so I don't know that I would be much help. Maybe you could look into renting a cottage for the weekend.

  3. My friend Hannah, her mom, her aunt, and myself will be going to Savannah for Memorial Day Weekend! Her aunt is doing all the planning. You'll probably wanna go to Paula Deans restaurant!

  4. I love going to Savannah. It's been awhile since I've been to Tybee Island, from what I remember it's nice. Also you do want to go to The Lady and Son's (Paula Deans Restaurant) and get there early!

  5. We went to Savannah last summer so I have a ton of info for you. But only info for Savannah not Tybee. If you would like some info on Savannah let me know and I'll send you an e-mail.

  6. My neighbors have a house in Tybee. If you'd like, I could hook you up with them, but I'm not sure if they'd give you a "friend discount" or anything... I have a feeling the husband might be kind of cheap :( When my family went to Savannah in summer '06, we drove through Tybee. It definitely has its cute parts and its kinda sketchy parts, but I guess many beach towns are like that!

I would recommend doing a ghost tour in Savannah... we went on one, and it was fun and not too scary! :) And, of course, The Lady and Sons-- but you will have to wait a few hours outside, but it's deliciously worth it!

  8. My family spent a week on Tybee Island last summer... It is beautiful! We had a house on the beach. We loved it because it was not too commercialized, so that wa snice. We went into Savannah and ate at some great restaurants - check out Rachel Ray's $30 a day for those ideas. Have a good time!

  9. Lena! Yay for Savannah! As Megan said, we took our galz trip there in September, and we loved it!! Two places you must eat: The Lady and Sons...call ahead and get there EARLY. Sunday brunch is yummy. Also, Mrs. Wilkes (I know you think of either Melly or Ashley when you hear that!) It's all southern food, served family style. You must also go to the River St. Chocolate Factory. The sweets are unbelievable. As far as Tybee goes, it's the most laid-back beach I've ever been to. There is a place to get hot dogs, ice cream, etc., so make sure you a little cash with you. We'll see you Monday/Tuesday and tell you more!

  10. My family and I go to Tybee Island every summer! It has almost become tradition now. We began when we had babies so that we could go to the beach and still be within three hours of home and now is it tradition. For staying on Tybee I have come to love the Brass Rail Condos. They are just a little off the beach, but you can still see the beach and are incredibly nice and new. Love the pool there! Depends on what you are looking for to stay in as to what I would recommend. In Savannah, you will of course visit the River Walk and if you decide to eat at The Lady and Sons you should stop by a little earlier in the day and put your name on a list for dinner that night, or early in the morning for lunch. It has been a few years since we visited so you may want to call the resturant and ask about their protocol now. Tybee is a very simple beach island, NOTHING like Destin or the FLorida panhandle. The beaches may not be quite as pretty but it is a beach town island in the truest form! We've always enjoyed it! You can also check out the website and see if there are any concerts on the pier. I know I am a random poster but I got to your blog through another an saw the Tybee post and thought I would mention a few things. Hope any of this rambling helps!
